Yayasan Suria JB(YSJB) – We are expanding!
Yes, since we moved into our new office/cum store at 107, Jalan Bakawali 50, Taman Johor Jaya, 81100 Johor Bahru some 3 months ago, a lot has happened.
We have so many items to store(preloved clothings, wheelchairs, ovens, cooking utensils, dry items for food bank like rice, sardines, cooking oil, Mee Hoon, wet wipes, pampers, diapers, milk powder and the list is endless, that they necessitate us to think of racks/shelves to maximize the space and have a proper storage/inventory system to speed up the packing of goodies bags to our clients.
We have never imagine that we will have to resort to do this shelving system!
2 big freezers for meat/bread & buns, roti canai, ice cream, etc and these go in between the shelves – a lot of planning goes into these fixing of shelves to maximize space.
Also since, YSJB has been involved in the field of education since Day 1(involved in schools – BTS(Back To School), PTA(Parent Teacher Association), education merits award, spectacles projects, bursary for local university students, etc we recently collaborated with EC Global Academy to further expand our outreach in the education field(will be writing more about this collaboration separately later on).
Back to the racks for storing. We decided on the Boltless Shelving System. We have no choice as the store was so messy that it took us a long time to locate certain items. A total of RM5,922.00 was spent, including an addition rack (8′ x 2′ x 3′) costing RM275 for our pantry where we can make some drinks, instant noodles, etc while volunteers work here. For info, none of our volunteers are paid, including me.
We serve with L❤️ve & Humility!
As part of Hitech Storage Engineering’s (the company tasked for the job) CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility), they waived the transport and fixing costs which we were grateful.
Fixing on 10/2/2022 took about 5 hours, partly delayed due our shifting around of existing items, thus hindering the boys from doing a faster job.
For their patience & understanding, we gave them 2 cartons of Promac milk powder(48 packets x 400gm), biscuits, rice and a double burner gas stove to be distributed to Hitech’s staffs.
Next, will be the sorting out of the various items, labeling them for easy access which are now being done by volunteers today(11/2/2022).
A proper pest control system is being done now, especially against rats & cockroaches as our shop is next door to a restaurant.
We hope to serve our clients better with this storage racking system, ease the strains on volunteers and make work fun for all of us at YSJB.
Thanks to the volunteers who help in supervising a good job done, thanks to Hitech for the good pricing and a neat/great job done.
Those wishing to support us in defraying the total cost of RM5,922 are most welcome.
