Yayasan Suria JB (YSJB) – You don’t have to wait to become rich to help someone!
In the course of running the Foundation, with 100% of our funds coming from the public, I do come across all sorts of people – the good, the bad & the ugly.
Good is good, bad is bad, but bad doesn’t necessarily have to be ugly.
Some of our donors are too good, even when you tell them to stop giving, they insist on still giving. They just like and want to give. They might not be rich materialistically but the spirit of giving is inbuilt in them.
It is not how much you have, in terms of money, that matters. It is whether you are willing to “just give.”
Some of my friends tell me they will donate to the Foundation “if” and “when” they are rich but they have not given anything at all over the years. Why? Because the “if” & “when” have not come.
The time to give is NOW. No one has become poorer by giving! If you don’t keep your cup “slightly full”, how can you ever expect to be blessed when the blessings can flow in as your cup is always full. You have to make some space in your cup(by giving away some), then will only the blessings be able to fill up the “empty space”(those you have given away) and the blessings ALWAYS overflow the cup, many times over!
I have seen this in my own life, on stage 3 cancer, given a 5% chance of survival and now it was 21 years ago – alive and kicking, running around daily helping the Poor & Needy. If this is not a blessing, what then it is. Life that money can’t buy – a borrowed life for 21 years and growing stronger each passing day!
I have heard stories from people that their business and personal lives have improved – everything is good since they get involved in our Foundation, whether as volunteers/donors, etc. They can’t explain, they asked me why, I told them “I don’t know.”
This was sent to me by one of our donors/supporters:
“You’re like this bro. I thought i must share this with you.
“You are a beacon of hope to many.”
Perhaps, what I am driving at, no matter how hard I try to describe, can’t be better illustrated in the story of Bill Gates and the newspaper vendor.
