Leaving our footprints behind!

Yayasan Suria JB Care (YSJBC) – Leaving our footprints 👣 behind!

Yes, all of us have to leave something behind when we finally go one good day.
This is unavoidable and a fact & reality of life. As I am 71 years ‘young’ now, one tends to ponder about “the end of life.”

We can’t bring along anything with us (perhaps. some think they can and they just can’t let go of anything they have) but what we can bring along are the footprints we leave behind. And the ripple effects of the lives we touched while here on earth!

With an average lifespan of Malaysians at 74.88 years (2021 statistics), speaking for myself at 71 now, it is near!

But nevertheless, lately I have come across people just dropping dead due to a stroke, heart attack or cancer at a much younger age. This is real and I don’t have any taboo talking about something that is a fact of life. For death can strike anyone, anywhere and anytime.

Taking a cue from one of our volunteers who passed away in May 2024, his good deeds still reverberate daily as I go around helping our clients, the Poor & Needy.

His legacy lives on, even though he is no longer with us anymore – the people he has helped remembered him, his helpfulness, his smile, his jokes and his poems.

In a way, you can be “alive” even though you have gone! What a great way to be remembered!
Yes, our family members and close friends will remember and talk about us for “a certain period of time”, everyone has his/her own life to live, life goes on. The world will not stop just because someone has died!

The duration of how long you will be remembered depends on “how much you have touched someone while you were alive and how wide the circle of people you have touched.

Just your family and relatives? Some close friends? Everyone, extending far beyond your family and close friends?

How far and to how many people have you implanted your footprints 👣?

Honestly, I can’t tell when I will go but I know I will go one day, it’s “the when, where & how” that are not up to us to decide.

So, we don’t worry about the things beyond our control.

We live each day as if it is the last day. Life is fragile, like the dew in the morning, it vanishes when the sun 🌞 is up.

For volunteers like us, we touch many lives daily, countless numbers of lives over the years and these are the footprints we leave behind!

Personally and honestly, I don’t know what will happen to me after I die, I don’t worry as I am not in control.

Everyone wants to go to HEAVEN but nobody wants to die – we just can’t let go of our dear life here, we cling on, not willing to let go!

These are serious issues, real life issues and we have to confront them head on – no taboos, no avoidance and no running away.

Be good, do good and go serve humanity with love & humility!

It is not the footprints that one leaves behind but the TYPE OF FOOTPRINTS – footprints of love, kindness & helpfulness:

It is NOT HOW LONG you have lived but HOW WELL you have lived, serving humanity with love ❤️ & humility!

Our footprints on the sand by the sea shore will be washed away when the big wave comes and someone else will walk on the same patch of sand again.

“I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
