We undertake to pay for her entire operation expenses, operation was delayed due to MCMO, some details written earlier, read on: “An urgent appeal and a race against time to fulfill Chitra’s wish….. Read on……. *Chitrawathy* is 43 years old, of Indian origin, single and lived with his aging father in Kluang, Johor. She is the eldest daughter with 2 younger brothers and a sister. Her siblings are all married and have families of their own. She has had this *Lymphedema* condition since the age of 21. Lymphedema is *caused by a blockage in the lymphatic system, preventing lymph fluid from draining well, and the fluid buildup leading to a swelling.* For 22 years she had been bearing with this condition unable to earn a living, destroying her social life, depending and depleting her family resources, not to mention the physical pain, the frustration of not being able to live a normal life, taking part in common activities and the emotional inner trauma of rejection, scorn, stigma and shame. That she could endure such excessive torture for such a long time is inhumanly imaginable and our hats off to her – what a gritty woman! Salute. During our visitation to her home on *Wed, 19/2/2020*, we found her positive spirit contradictory and paradoxical. We travelled all the way from JB to Kluang, Johor to ensure her case is genuine and not a con job after being informed. Most of us would have collapsed in despair and had given up hope of living. But not this brave and courageous Chitra. She still would want to find a solution and a better tomorrow. May many be blessed to want to journey with her. Pardon my tears and emotions as I write as when I listened to her journey of ups and downs, grit and determination, she put me to shame by her sheer ‘never-say-die’ attitude – that’s what makes the Foundation so determine to let her dreams come true after 22 years of ordeal which none of us could have endured. In her plight to seek medical help from the public hospitals, she had not much successes. The swellings have exaggerated over the last few years and may be life threatening if not redressed. 3 times she had been scheduled for surgery but each time postponed at the last minute, after all the tests and preparations and even fasting and admission to the ward and spending all her savings and goodwill donations from wellwishers and the public on transportation, hotel stays, either because of the unavailability of the specialist surgeon or unavailability of the post surgery facilities. So much so, a letter of petition had been forwarded to the director pleading for compassion highlighting the 3 surgery cancelations. Every consultation at the Univesity of Malaya Medical Center(UMMC) will cost Chitra to the tune of RM1,600.00 for the commercial charter of a dedicated driver, a car, petrol, toll, hotel, food and miscellaneous expenses. And some of these are drawn from the funds donated by the public. Chitra has expressed feeling bad that such funds were spent unfruitfully and may incur accountability displeasure. She is scheduled for surgery on this coming *16th of April 2020* at UMMC. She will need to undergo 3 surgeries to debulk the swelling on the lower limb of her left leg and spend one month warded in post surgery therapies and recuperation. Pray that there will be no more postponement and the surgeries will be successful and she will regain a resemblance of normal life. Her total budget may come to some *RM 50,000.00* and so far she had managed to raise RM2,000. 00 from some friends, RM300. 00 from an individual and RM1,000. 00 from an NGO, totalling *RM3,300.00* *The Foundation has contributed RM5,000.00* as a salutation of her determination and grit in battling the disease. Chitra has been advised to appeal to the UMMC’s Bahagian Kebajikan -) Welfare Dept) and write to the Pengarah Kesihatan for a special allocation as she had tried her best efforts to raise funds for her operations. Failing which, she will have to fall back on the generosity of the Malaysian Rakyat – and that’s all of us. We wish her well and we invite the public to journey with this special person. We (3 active social workers from Johor Bahru, namely *MIWA* – Masai Indian Women Association, Masai, Johor(Saraswathy), *Good Samaritan*, Taman Ponderosa, JB(Kelvin) and *Yayasan Suria JB* – James Ho) confirmed after personally visiting, interviewing and witnessing that *this is a genuine and deserving case*. Further inquiries may be forwarded to YSJB(your trusted Foundation). It has come to our knowledge that some unscrupulous individuals are taking advantages of her misfortune, making the rounds, collecting donations and pocketing the proceeds. So please do not donate to agents with no accountability. As I am writing this lengthy story, I am just wondering how long can Chitra bear fighting this ‘swollen leg’ condition – it has been 22 long years of suffering, humiliation and mental torture. How long more do we want Chitra to go on like this? My answer is ‘NO MORE’….. Let us all chip in, whatever little we have, to fund her operation. Thank you & God bless.” *Note: Operated on 25/6/2020, they shaved off tons of flesh from her left leg, a 8-hour operation, now on heavy antibiotics, sedated for 2 days, managed to talk to her 28/6/2020, please continue to pray for her speedy recovery.* – collected money from *Restoran 555 Tmn Daya, netted RM340. 00* *25/6/2020.* – 300 packets of cooked food from Ponderosa Golf Club ⛳, 80 packets from Fig Cafe Molek, 50 packets from FGC JJ & 50 packets from Thanusha’s restaurant Jalan Segget JB respectively, total 480 packets daily for distribution to the Poor & Needy. – passed *7 tins Ensure milk* to Lydia of FGC JJ for her client. – passed *adult milk and infant milk(0 to 6 months) from Promac* to Ibans in Megah Ria. – took a friend to *MK ElderCare Home* to explore the possibility of putting a client there. *26/6/2020.* – 300 packets of cooked food from Ponderosa Golf Club ⛳, 80 packets from Fig Cafe Molek, 50 packets from FGC JJ & 50 packets from Thanusha’s restaurant Jalan Segget JB respectively, total 480 packets daily for distribution to the Poor & Needy. – paid *RM7, 000.00 to purchase 200 boxes(50 pieces per box) of face masks* for other NGOs/NGIs/schools, etc. 70 sen a piece. – an NGI met with a car accident, car total write-off, loaned him my new Perodua Bezza, *he asked why the newer of my 2 cars, I told him, I give to others the best I can offer, he said I am mad, nevermind.* – went to meet *YSJB’s Patron, Dato’ Soh Poh Sheng* in Taman Melodies JB. – paid *electricity bills for Sari Saujana Home in Stulang Laut RM450.56* *27/6 /2020.* – 300 packets of cooked food from Ponderosa Golf Club ⛳, 80 packets from Fig Cafe Molek, 50 packets from FGC JJ & 50 packets from Thanusha’s restaurant Jalan Segget JB respectively, total 480 packets daily for distribution to the Poor & Needy.
