Helping Anonymously, Healing Silently — We Are There When It Matters Most!

On 3/3/2025, we received a call from a person (no name, gender, age or race mentioned — we don’t want any stereotyping). The person asked whether we could help to do an HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) test.

A date was fixed — 6/3/2025 — and I took the person to see a GP.

For info, I have been involved with HIV/AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) work for the past 25 years or so.
No wonder when we were approached to do an HIV test, we knew exactly what to do.

After 3 days, on 6/3/2025, the test results came back — “not detected”, indicating negative.

Here, we are testing for HIV 1 & 2 AG/AB based on ECLIA principle.

But being negative based on the 1st test doesn’t mean this person is free from HIV.

We made another appointment for this person on 28/3/2025 (at least after 2 weeks from the 1st test), and on 30/3/2025, we received the results of the 2nd test — “not detected”, again negative.

We paid for both tests, costing RM55 each, as this person couldn’t afford to do so.

I was so happy, tears in my eyes, happiness & joy for that person that money can’t buy — that person is free from HIV!

I WA that person and he called asking me to explain — I told him “you are free from HIV”, silence on the other side… perhaps that person was so grateful and thankful!

What else can one asked for!
Happiness & joy knowing that you were so close, yet so far!

Being an experienced volunteer and counselor, we never questioned this person who requested the HIV test — why this person wanted the test. We gave this person dignity and did not put additional stress on the existing predicament.

All said and done, we are extremely happy and we are rejoicing every turned out well!

For info, YSJBC has got 2 HIV/AIDS patients whom we have been following and supporting for the past 22 years, still alive and kicking.

They are on HAART treatment and the Government gives free treatments to Malaysians with HIV/AIDS.

Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) is a treatment regimen typically comprised of a combination of three or more antiretroviral drugs.

What YSJBC doesn’t do!
I can’t think of anything that we don’t do!
