Yayasan Suria JB(YSJB) – The Foundation received 2 awards from IMSHA in 2015!
Many reading this might not know what IMSHA stands for, the formation of YSJB and subsequently our recognition in 2015 by IMSHA.
The Foundation(YSJB) was recognized and registered under ROS (Registrar of Societies) under the Ministry of Home Affairs on 14th Sept 2012 (we are 10 years ‘young’ this year), still got lots to learn, have grown from strength to strength, from an initial RM20k from my own pocket in 2012 to a turnover which we can be extremely proud of today – all these were made possible by the many volunteers who are unpaid, we sourced for the best price and are stingy on every cent spent so that we will have more money to help the Poor & Needy.
We always are mindful that the money is from public donations, we are accountable to our donors and to God. For info, our accounts are prepared and audited by a chartered accounting firm, SE LAI CK in Johor Bahru and the accounts are submitted to ROS & Income Tax Dept yearly.
In 2021, we rented the ground floor of a shop lot in Johor Jaya, JB as our office cum store. Prior to that for 9 years, the Foundation has been ‘squatting’ from place to place, keeping our things in my house, friend’s house, friend’s office/store and everywhere/anywhere.
We have come a long way, more organized now and we are scouting around to buy our own building in the near future.
We are preparing the solid ground work of the Foundation before passing the baton to the next generation. I am 69 years-old and am working on a succession plan.
Many thanks for the continuous and unwavering support of all of you over the years, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Your trust and faith in us have made this possible for us to help so many Poor & Needy, we would not have been where we are now in 2022 without your support.
Through thick and thin, you supported us and for this, we are eternally grateful and may God shower his blessings on all of you, thank you, thank you.
We worked tirelessly and faithfully, serving our clients with L
ve & Humility and were granted tax exemption status by the Income Tax Department on 1st Jan 2020 for a period of 5 years.
IMSHA = Iskandar Malaysia Social Hero Awards. The Foundation (YSJB) was given 2 awards by IMSHA in 2015, 3 years after the Foundation was established.
1. NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) award was for YSJB under “Hunger & Poverty” Relief.
2. NGI (Non-Governmental Individual) award was for James Ho under “Disaster” Relief.
We were indeed proud honoured to receive these 2 awards and would like to share these 2 recognitions with our donors/supporters/volunteers.
In 2019, United Nations Malaysia recognized IMSHA as a “Good Practice Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Award Provider.” With this recognition by United Nations Malaysia, the awards are of international status/standard and we are proud and honoured to be an awardee!

Being a volunteer is no easy task, having chosen the road less traveled, serving our clients with L
ve & Humility can be taxing, humiliating, tiring and exhausting but the joy of seeing so many happy faces just because someone cares for them (our clients, our VIPs) is so rewarding that we want to keep on going helping them – their happiness is our pride, knowing that their lives and that of their children will be a better one in the future, way after the the volunteers are gone!
