Yayasan Suria JB (YSJB) – Just do it!
As we have recently shifted into our own new office, there is a lot of rearranging and fixing to do to make the office and store more comfortable.
And to ensure safety of volunteers working at the shop, we need to ensure the environment is safe and conducive.
We don’t like any mishaps to happen, even though we have bought a PA policy for all our volunteers and those visiting our shop (office & store).
Since we are dependent on volunteers, and when none is around to help out, I just got to be a handyman to get things fixed up.
Learning from scratch, I managed to do a lot of fixing up, all by myself, a sense of real satisfaction and happiness when things are done – a real sense of achievement!
The racks were bolted onto the concrete walls for safety reasons, we bought an electric drill and I am learning how to use it, asking people around, from hardware shops to our present immediate neighbour who is running a vehicle repair workshop.
Bit by bit, things are shaping up and I am proud of myself, being able to do the things I have never done before or no need to do before, as everything is done by someone else for you!
I spend about 90% of my time outside, running around and when in the office, I try to do whatever fixing, most of the time by myself and sometimes, being lucky and when a volunteer is around, I quickly grab hold of the volunteer to help me.
As usual, I leave you with this:
“I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
