Yayasan Suria JB (YSJB) – Welcoming Dr. Khim Boh to JB!
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Khim Boh, Chairman of Malaysian-Thai International Chamber of Commerce to our office to take a first-hand look at what we do.
She is an avid follower of our FB, her sister, Helen Boh, is a very active volunteer with us. We were delighted as she wanted to follow us on our daily rounds tending to the Poor & Needy. An honour for YSJB despite of her very busy schedule, we are indeed too happy to bring her around.
We met her at 10.00 am Fri (Good Friday), 15/4/2022 at our office at Jalan Bakawali, Johor Jaya with Sin Chew reporter for an interview and tour of our office cum store. From here, we pushed off to our first stop at Santhia Home in Plentong, Masai, a Home of some 60 odd residents comprising of children and old folks. We gave them cooked food, all personally prepared by our YSJB’s angels, COVID-19 test kids, soft toys, preloved clothings, buns, Promac milk powder and other ‘goodies’.
Our second stop was another single mother with 5 children in Plentong too – cooked food, buns, COVID-19 test kits and toys were given.
Next was another single mother on dialysis, with 3 children, we showed her the living conditions at Megah Ria flats, considered to be the poorest of the poor in Masai, most of the flats have no window frames and grills and it is a “free-for-all” community here where anything and everything goes. We gave them cooked food, COVID-19 test kits and buns.
Our 4th stop was at Taman Gembira, Tampoi, an elderly couple with 2 mentally-challenged children, one is with celebral palsy and the other, mentally unstable. Dr. Khim presented them with cooked food, COVID-19 test kits, buns and an Ang Pow(L❤️ve gift), the old lady was so happy and thankful!
Our 5th and last stop was at Sherun Home, Selesa Jaya where we took Dr. Khim to have a first-hand look at our awnings/roof project there. It is still WIP (Work In Progress) with the first phase completed (RM15k) and now the second phase(RM25k). The second phase involved the tearing down of the leaking awnings, replaced them with a new set, completed with rewiring of CCTV, lights and fans, scheduled for completion by 20/4/2022.
There we met Mei Ai, the homeless lady featured by CNA and Uncle Ang whom we (together with our synergy partner, Ihsan Johor) placed him at Sherun Home after he was found wandering at the Kempas toll, taken to Kempas Police station some time ago. Both of them are so happy here and have put on weight, due to the good care and l❤️ve at Sherun Home. Thanks Sherun Home and those interested to support this fantastic Home, you are most welcome to do so. With some 60 odd residents, some full paying, some partial paying and some FOC, this Home is worthy of any help that you can give.
We left Sherun Home at 3.45 pm, have a quick lunch with Dr. Khim Boh and our volunteers, parted ways and we continued with our remaining food bank runs for 2 more families.
