Johor Bahru: Yayasan Suria JB today achieved another beautiful thing. They gave a set of hearing aids worth RM7,000 and a second-hand computer worth RM550 to a 16-year-old student from a disadvantaged family so that she can focus on her studies. The Foundation handed over the newly- purchased hearing aids to the girl Ms. Song who lives in Taman Ehsan Jaya, Johor Bahru at 2pm.
The Chairman of the Foundation, James Ho, revealed that the girl’s family had applied for assistance from the foundation in March this year. He said that the girl, Ms. Song has been hearing impaired since she was 6 years old, and the existing hearing aids were not as good as before, and the functionality has been dropping over the years of usage, thus affecting her hearing.
According to the Foundation, the girl’s mother works as a secretary in a vegetable wholesale factory, while her father works as a kitchen assistant in Singapore. The girl is the eldest daughter of the family and has a 13-year-old brother. As the new set of hearing aids has a big price tag, the family has turned to the Foundation for help to reduce their burden. James Ho representing the Foundation made a trip to bring the girl and her mother to their regular hearing aids shop to order a brand new set of hearing aids today. At the same time, considering that girl needs to take online lessons at home due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation also bought a second-hand laptop and handed it over to her.
